The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday started carrying out searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in a terror funding case related to suspicious activities of Al-Huda Educational Trust.
The probe agency is conducting searches at multiple locations in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian and Bandipora districts of Jammu and Kashmir in the case relating to the suspicious activities of Al-Huda Educational Trust, Rajouri, news agency said citing sources.
NIA raids are also underway at the residence of rector Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora, Moulan Rehmatullah Qasmi. Moulana Rehmatullah Qasmi is renowned religious scholar and Darul Uloom Reheemyah Bandipora is largest Islamic Seminary in J&K.
The case was registered suo-moto by NIA about the funding pattern and activities of Al Huda Educational Trust, which is functioning as a frontal entity for Jamaat-e-Islami J&K. The entity was declared as an ‘unlawful association’ under UA(P)A in 2019.
The raids reportedly started early morning in the Rebban Chitragam area of the Shopian district on Tuesday morning and still continuing. The searches are being carried out with the help of Jammu and Kashmir police and Central Reserve Police Force soldiers.
